We're a resource service for those needing help with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender issues, based in the Thames Valley.

Our dedicated support team provide specialist resources for LGBT people and those affected by LGBT related issues. Our team can assist with concerns ranging from employment to sexual health and homelessness to counselling.

Support U was born in 2010 following increasing demand for support, advice and guidance with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender issues within Reading and the Thames Valley.

Our specialist support service now deals with over 2,000 enquiries per annum through our telephone, email, and walk in help service - this number is increasing each and every year.

Through our partnership with Thames Valley Police and the CPS, we operate a registered Hate Crime Reporting service, to ensure our service users are fully supported, and hate crime is identified and dealt with correctly.

We also operate a number of community groups ranging from RTrans - a safe place for those to meet and support each other through the transition, The Family Network - for those who have or are looking to start their own families, and most recently Bi:scuit - a group specifically for those who identify as Bisexual or curious.

Alongside our core support services, we also carry out a number of focussed projects to build awareness and stamp out homophobia. Recently, our work documenting Reading's LGBT History was showcased at Reading Museum, a partnership between Support U and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
